British Airways Pilot Assessment Preparation

British Airways runs a selection process with extensive online aptitude tests, a communication simulation, a group exercise and a flying-skills assessment.

How does the British Airways pilot selection process work?

British Airways (United Kingdom) typically applies a three-stage assessment for cadet and direct entry pilot recruitment. The structure below can vary by airline policy and changes over time, so confirm the current steps on the airline's official recruitment pages. AviaCoach prepares you for all three components in a single module:

  1. Psychometric test: numerical reasoning, spatial awareness, multi-tasking, reaction time and mechanical comprehension. Typical duration is 60 to 90 minutes.
  2. Simulator profile: raw-data flying, ILS approach, holding and normal and abnormal call-outs in a generic A320 or B737 trainer.
  3. Structured interview: CRM, situation management and personality fit assessed by a panel of a captain and HR (and sometimes a psychologist).
